ReclaimTime vs Hubstaff

Hubstaff is a time tracker built around a timer: people track hours against projects and clients, with screenshots, activity levels, payroll, invoicing and GPS for field teams. ReclaimTime has no timer and no billing. It records application and website time automatically during working hours, for teams whose hours are already paid and whose question is where the time goes.

If you bill clients by the hour, pay contractors from tracked time or manage people in the field, Hubstaff is the better fit. If you run salaried teams on Windows or macOS and need time by team without screenshots, ReclaimTime is.

Hubstaff facts are from Hubstaff's own pricing, product and help pages, checked on 15 Oct 2026 and listed at the end of this page. Plans and prices change, so check the linked pages before deciding.

Choose Hubstaff if

  • • You bill clients by the hour or pay contractors from tracked time.
  • • Your people work in the field and you need GPS, job sites or mobile apps.
  • • You need Linux or mobile tracking.
  • • You want screenshots as proof of work.
  • • You are a small team: plans start at two seats.

Choose ReclaimTime if

  • • Your staff are salaried and you want time by team without anyone starting a timer.
  • • Screenshots are ruled out by a works council, a privacy office or your own policy.
  • • Personal browsing should count only as anonymous group time, decided on the PC before anything is uploaded.
  • • You want blocking, time limits and breaks by group alongside the reporting.
  • • You are licensing hundreds of seats on Windows or macOS and want a low per-user price per year.

What ReclaimTime does not do

Most of these are choices rather than gaps, but you should know them before a pilot. The security page lists exactly what the client records.

  • No screenshots, screen recording or live screen view, on any plan.
  • No real-time view: activity appears once it is 15 minutes old.
  • No API: data leaves through CSV export.
  • Windows and macOS only: no Linux, ChromeOS or mobile client.
  • No SAML single sign-on for the dashboard.
  • No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 report.

Try it on your own teams

A pilot runs on your own PCs with your own groups and working hours.
